The chapter book North American Indian Stories about the Stars, by Gretchen Will Mayo, tell different tales of Native American Indians. The book introduces the way tales were passed down: young people gathered around a campfire to watch The Old One act out stories. Each tale is prefaced with a brief introduction and which tribes this tales was passed through. The tale is then written out on the following pages with descriptive pictures. I would suggest this book as fun, independent reading as a supplement to learning the life and beliefs of North American Indians.
